An artist and a visionary, award-winning interior designer Melissa Garfinkle has a warm, comfortable and collaborative style that combines creative thought to solutions with dynamic clean style. Along with her extraordinary eye for detail, Melissa has the unique ability to listen to, interpret and reflect her clients’ lifestyle and needs into fresh, functional, personal spaces.
After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design and a minor in Fine Art from Southern Illinois University in 1985, she began her professional career working with an interior design firm specializing in custom hospitality and high end residential interiors. That experience led her to design, operate and eventually own "The Spiral Collection," a trend-setting decorative home accessory manufacturer with an emphasis on color, texture and design. She earned national accolades and recognition, including a NEOCON “Spec Award,” as well as being the first woman to win the Chicago Athenaeum “Good Design Award” for outstanding product design.
In 2001, Melissa established INDESIGN, an interior design company that meshes pragmatic architectural and structural insights with high-end design and aesthetic vision.
Her experience allowed her to develop long-standing partnerships with some of world’s top residential and commercial material suppliers, fabricators and contractors giving her the ability to specify, access and create a virtually limitless array of product and design options for her clients within a variety of budgets.
Melissa specializes in space planning and design for kitchens and bathrooms. Serving the Greater Chicago area and suburbs, Melissa’s work is on display in homes to high rises stretching from the Gold Coast, North Shore, Western suburbs and beyond. From a single room to an entire project Indesign offers stylish smart solutions from concept to completion.
